Each dog will learn heel, no, sit, automatic stop, stay, down (optional), come, and a release word. In addition, you are encouraged to discuss any additional problems you are experiencing.

Heel: The command heel means the dog is walking on your left hand side, head up and no more than twelve inches from your knee cap. The dog is not allowed to urinate, defecate, play or smell while heeling.  This command will allow you to enjoy leisurely walks with your dog.

No: The command no will stop whatever behavior that is unacceptable. The dog will sit on No.

Automatic sit/stop: The dog will stop and sit whenever you stop. This allows you to have conversations with friends, stop at an intersection, or have a thought provoking idea while outside.

Stay: The command stay will have your dog stay at the desired location. The dog is not allowed to move more than 12” in any direction. This command is great for dogs who love to run out the door before you are ready for the walk or run to the door when company arrives. To improve their concentration and their ability to listen to commands when distracted, the dog will be purposely distracted while teaching this command.

Down: The command down will tell your dog to lie down and stay. This is the most difficult command to teach because it puts the dog in a submissive and vulnerable position. However, if this command is taught the dog truly understands that the owner is the social pack leader and it builds upon the bond between dog and owner.

Come: The command come allows you to call your dog and it comes. No waiting around!. No going to get it. The dog comes eagerly and happily. I will teach how to have your dog come to you each and every time.

Release word: The release word of your choice informs the dog that it is okay to socialize, play, urinate, defecate or smell the roses.

In addition to learning the verbal signals, you will learn the physical signals as well.
